Hens football coach arrested on drunk driving charges

Brian Ginn, an assistant football coach was suspended for two weeks today after he was charged with drunk driving in Newark late last night. The Hens are lucky this occurred in the off-season and the summer so that it flies somewhat under the radar. Had Ginn been arrested in the fall, it could have been an enormous distraction for the team. The timing, however, will likely prevent Ginn's incident from causing harm to the Hens squad as they prepare for the upcoming 2009 season. Camp starts in August. Gear up!

Delle Donne expected to announce plans to play basketball today

From the Wilmington News Journal:
Elena DelleDonne, the 2008 national high school girls basketball player of the year, is returning to basketball and will do so in a University of Delaware uniform, The News Journal has learned.
Delaware is expected to announce today that the 6-foot-5 DelleDonne, 19, is joining its women's basketball team.
She'll have freshman eligibility beginning with the 2009-10 season, which opens with seven road games, the first at St. Francis (Pa.), before a home contest against Navy.
Delaware coach Tina Martin would not comment on Monday.

Tina Martin hinted recently about her connection with Delle Donne, saying that she had been in contact with the former high school phenom and Delle Donne was present at the last few basketball games of the season after announcing an end to her short volleyball career. The Lady Hens certainly have something to look forward to this season and a run at the CAA title seems likely, if not certain.
The news will put Delaware on the map on the national scene, and the forward will be thrown back into the national spotlight.
DelleDonne chose to give up her scholarship to Connecticut and come to Delaware primarily because of her older sister, Lizzy, who has cerebral palsy
"Being close to home was a big factor, because my sister and all, so I'm near her, which is nice," she said in an October interview.
Her decision to play volleyball was based on a desire to revert from the spotlight. Clearly DelleDonne's hopes of staying out of the public eye are going to be lost.
