Ross Recieves Contract Extension

Men's basketball head coach Monte' Ross was given a contract extension yesterday, keeping him on board through the 2014-2015 season. Ross's record with the Hens is 32-62 through three seasons in which he has gone 5-26, 14-17 and 13-19. Now that he has had time to establish his own recruiting classes, it will be interesting to see how he will do in the 2009-2010 season and beyond.

Hens Shock James Madison for Senior Night Send Off

In their last home game of the season, the Hens played like champions.

Delaware's 79-65 senior night rout of CAA foe James Madison saw the home side play some of their best basketball of the season as the team picked up some much needed momentum as they head into CAA tournament play next weekend in Richmond, VA.

After an early JMU 3-pointer to open the scoring, Delaware went on a 21-0 run in the first half that began with a Marc Egerson off-balance lay up and ended minutes later when the Dukes closed the gap to 21-6 with another 3. The Hens shot 49.1 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from beyond the arc while playing tight defense and pressuring their opponents into poor shots.

Though James Madison was able to get back within 7 points after a flurry of baskets to open the second half, the Hens controlled the rest of the game by shutting down Juwann James, the Dukes' leading scorer, who finished with a game-high 23 points, though much of that came in the first half.

Delaware was able to get all their seniors into the game towards the end. Though Egerson and Jim Ledsome started the game, Pau Geli and Brian Young rotated into the game. Each senior was given a standing ovation as he left the court.

"The biggest thing we wanted to do was to send our seniors off right," head coach Monte Ross said to the raucus crowd after the game. "I think we did that."
